Abstract

This work seeks to provide empirical evidence in favor of the minimax theorem based on data from penalty charges in the matches of various professional soccer leagues in Latin America. In line with most of the literature on the subject, the results obtained indicate that the equilibrium implications of the theorem are not fully met. In particular, players seem to connect their current choices with those previously made by their rival. These facts show that not only the experience counts to play minimax in the real plane. Context and cognitive skills are also relevant.
