Diversificación de las exportaciones y competitividad externa en la industria. Hacia la construcción de una tipología para el caso de países de ingresos medios
Abstract
This paper analyses the link between export diversification and the export competitiveness of the industrial sector in middle income countries. The results show a significant positive relationship between the degree of diversification and trade performance, and less
representative links as regards dynamic competitiveness. Diversification promotes competitiveness through improvements in the trade balance. However, there is no evidence that a strategy of export diversification can increase the market share of middle income countries in the case of industries where demand grows in the global environment.
